A Roma

In total we spent 4 days in Capitignano and, before long, it was time to go to Roma for a quick visit and then back home after our two week odyssey.  Luigi and Maria took us into Rome and showed off the major sites in a whirlwind auto tour.  We had lunch at a terrific restaurant whose owner lives in a Fulvi-built casa during the summer months.  Finally we said farewell and settled into our hotel in a Polish convent not far from the grand Santa Maria Maggiore basilica and within walking distance of the Spanish Steps, Via Veneto and the Colosseum.

One of many interesting facts about Rome is a vertical height ordinance:  no building in Rome can be higher than St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City,  approximately 450 feet (140 meters).
