Giulianova
is a modest size coastal city of about 25,000 - fishing and tourism are
the main economic forces here. Tiziana, thanks to her kind principal
that let her take a day off from school, took us on a tour (giro)
of the port and the beaches. We just missed the
end of the summer tourist season - the family rents the downstairs
apartment [where we stayed] to take advantage of the increased demand for
temporary housing. The city was settled in about 1000 A.D.
