Capitignano and la familglia Fulvi
My mother's family
originated in the small mountain valley village of Capitignano,
at about 3,000 feet (900 m.) elevation in the Italian Appenines (map
view). This setting is spectacular and my relatives have
prospered since my last visit in 1966, now operating a general contracting
business (FM Construction),
general stores in Montreale and the
capitol city of L'Aquila, a few minutes away. Just a mile (2
km.) from their house the family owns a medium-size metalworks that specializes
in window framing of all sizes. Because of the relatively close
distance to Roma, only about 90 minutes away, the area has become a favorite
of wealthy Romans who enjoy a summer home in the cool mountains, especially
with Lake Campotosto close by.

This was our first lunch - Luigi's and Maria's gardens produced fantastic fresh food.
