Visiting Alfredo and Family in L'Aquila
As part of our visit in L'Aquila, we were invited for lunch at Luigi's son Alfredo's flat in downtown L'Aquila. Alfredo, who was a real soccer star in his youth, playing for Series A teams all over Italy, met his wife Simona while he played for Cagliari, capitol of the island of Sardenia. Simona, a nurse by training, now is mother to three wonderful children - Francesca, Elisabetta and Samuele. Alfredo is now responsible for the daily management of the FM Construction company.
And we enjoyed a great lunch on the Fulvi terrazzo, spiced wth Simona's tasty Sardenian dishes. Their flat is beautifully decorated with an eye to modern and sleek Italian design. Alfredo invited Chris to spend the day and night with their family and he had a great time, meeting Alfredo's best friend Luigi, enjoying some night clubs and seeing a local professional soccer game the following day.
Rick went back to
Capitignano and he and Chris were reunited the following day.
And Italy sustained a near national electricity blackout that night, with
no power for about 12 hours. We made it through!
